THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates the majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues such as step-parent or private party adoptions as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year she assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid court proceedings and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters involving child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts played a significant role in helping children who suffered abuse or negligence at the hands their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond the realm of law as she actively served as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state area.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law including custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
