Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family matters. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters such as step-parent adoptions and private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served a court-appointed mediator since 2019 she assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who want to stay clear of the court process and litigation.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond the legal realm since she was actively an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law including divorce, child support, custody and guardianships, as well in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
